Description
Monitoring the health of a civil structure is essential for tracking aging, observing any structural change and preventing collapses, especially for structures subject to stress, such as bridges.
With a network of IoT sensors it is possible to set up practically any structure and monitor it remotely 24 hours a day.
The goal is to be able to monitor any structure with an easy-to-install, low-cost battery-powered wireless sensor system. So there is no need to lay wiring, and it is possible to leave devices for years on the structure and collect a large amount of data to model its behavior.

All of this is to give the opportunity to really have under control the situation of the structures managed, with a negligible cost compared to that of the structure, and so to avoid dangerous failures.
Solution
Move Solutions took up the challenge and developed a line of devices called Deck, that meet all the rumors mentioned.
The best one of these products has an innovative technology patented by Move, for which it is able to measure the displacement of the point where it is applied. It is low noise, low power, with an accuracy equal to that of the interferometric radar (0.01 mm) but with a cost about 100 times lower. It also measures temperature and vibration frequency, and then relates all these data over time. More traditional sensors have also been developed with the same communicative heart such as accelerometers, inclinometers, crackmeters and more.

Application
1. Installation of sensors on bridge / building / dam / scaffolding / other, and gateway installation in the area
2. The sensors sample all the time, but when an attention threshold (chosen remotely) is exceeded, they transmit an event of 40 seconds (20 seconds before and after this event)
3. The gateway receives all data and forwards them via 4G cellular connection to A2a Network Server
4. Sensors and gateways are pre-registered in the A2A network server. The received data is authenticated and forwarded via API to the Move database
5. All data land on the Move platform, where it is possible to view it, analyze it, manage it and relate it with advanced algorithms to model the time course of the structure.
The return
Now with this continuous structure health monitoring (SHM), the structural engineers can view the health status of the structure anywhere and at any time. They can be alerted by an alarm for an anomalous event, and can schedule any maintenance or safety measures in advance to avoid excessive aging and collapses of the structures.
